Professional and Educational Background

Dr. Gregory Ford, a Licensed Psychologist, was educated at Whitman College, Western Washington University, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1997. Dr. Ford completed his clinical internship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Harborview/ University of Washington Medical Center. Dr. Ford’s post-doctoral training emphasized acute and chronic pain management, brain injury rehabilitation, psychological assessment, and pulmonary/ cardiac rehabilitation. He also has post-graduate training in EMDR and hypnosis.


Areas of Specialization

Dr. Ford works with adults individually, as couples, and in groups, and with older adolescents alone and with their families. He also sees families where a member has a medical illness or disability.

Dr. Ford is a general therapist who helps individuals deal with a broad range of psychological issues, such as depression, anxiety, panic, and interpersonal conflict. He also has particular expertise and training working with individuals who are dealing with chronic illness/disability or an acute medical crisis. Dr. Ford also specializes in general psychological assessment as well as Pre-Surgery Bariatric Evaluations.

Treatment Philosophy

Dr. Ford’s goal is to help individuals overcome whatever emotional or physical adversity confronts them, while assisting them in wisely using their health care resources. He is committed to helping individuals, through a collaborative process, acquire new skills, strategies, and behaviors to more effectively deal with and manage their difficulties and problems. Dr. Ford believes in establishing therapy goals with the individual and routinely reassessing progress toward those goals. He values his work with every client, and provides a warm, humane, and professional therapeutic environment.


Personal Information

Dr. Ford, his wife Leslie, and their children live in Bellingham. They enjoy spending time out of doors hiking, skiing, and playing tennis.
